BAKERY WEBSITE BRIEF A starting point for your bakery, cafe, cake or catering website. Prepared by UpOnUp | uponup.com Guide and examples checked 16 October 2026. Use short answers. Leave anything you do not know as a question to resolve. This is a planning document, not an order, quote or agreement to begin work. You can edit it and use it with any website provider. 1. YOUR BAKERY Business name: Current website: Person approving the project: Best way for your provider to contact you: What would you most like the new website to help customers do? 2. THE WAYS PEOPLE BUY Which routes do you need? Delete or add to these: - Visit the bakery or cafe - Ask about a celebration cake - Enquire about catering or a group order - Place and pay for a standard collection order - Order for delivery - Discuss wholesale supply Which one matters most? What makes your food or bakery worth choosing? What do customers often ask before buying? 3. VISITS AND LOCATIONS For each bakery, cafe, shop or collection counter, record: - Name, address and directions link - Current opening hours and any different collection hours - What is available at this location - Practical access or visit information customers need - Who updates bank-holiday and seasonal changes Do any routes need customers to choose a location first? 4. MENU, PHOTOGRAPHS AND INFORMATION Which menus or product ranges need their own pages? Who supplies and approves descriptions, prices and food information? Which photographs show your actual food, counter, premises and team? Do you have permission to publish them? Is a downloadable menu needed as well as a readable web page? Who keeps all versions current? 5. CAKES, CATERING AND ENQUIRIES Which requests do you accept, and which do you need to explain you cannot fulfil? What notice do you need? Which event dates, group sizes, collection locations or delivery details help you reply? Should customers give an approximate budget? Which questions can wait until the conversation? Who receives a request, and who covers their absence? What reply should a customer expect? What specifically confirms that you have accepted an order? 6. ONLINE ORDERS, IF NEEDED Which service or system will manage orders? Who controls products, prices, stock and availability? How do customers choose collection or delivery? What areas, slots, minimums or cut-offs apply? Who manages payment, confirmation, changes, cancellation and customer support? What happens if payment or a connected service fails? What must be demonstrated and checked before launch? Ask the provider to confirm this scope and any ongoing costs separately. 7. EXAMPLES YOU FIND USEFUL For each example, record a page link, the useful detail and how yours would differ. Pump Street: https://pumpstreetchocolate.com/pages/the-bakery Idea to consider: different opening arrangements for different places. My notes: GAIL's: https://gails.com/pages/faqs Idea to consider: clear routes and conditions for advance and same-day purchases. My notes: Buttr & Ember: https://uponup.com/work/butter-and-ember/ Idea to consider: readable menu and carrying a chosen box into a planner. The planner prepares an on-screen summary only. It does not send an enquiry, place an order, take payment or reserve collection. My notes: 8. MOVING AND MAINTAINING THE WEBSITE Which existing pages and URLs need to remain useful? Who controls the domain, business email and current website? Which forms, ordering services or other connections must continue working? Who will handle and approve changes after launch? When would you like to review the first version? Are there seasonal dates the project needs to allow for? 9. QUESTIONS FOR THE WEBSITE PROVIDER What is included in the build, and what needs a separate quote? Who writes the copy, supplies images and checks business facts? What will we be able to edit, and how will other changes be handled? What must we approve before launch? How will enquiries or orders be tested? Which files, accounts and instructions will we receive? Which ongoing services and costs will remain?
